Painted 23 years ago at a moment of inner rupture - on the threshold between childhood and adult life.
A child appears on the canvas - naked in their vulnerability. Their skin glows with a greenish light, sharply contrasting the heavy red background that marks the world around them as hostile, alien. An angel leans over the child. It wraps around them - a shelter, a new environment. Perhaps cradling them, perhaps dissolving them into a dark void - into oblivion. The angel is a figure of protection and consolation. It doesn’t resemble a human being. It demands no faith, no words, no rituals.
It simply exists. And its presence brings peace.
