This painting explores three inner selves in the context of immigration - the masculine, the feminine, and the child.
The masculine struggles to stay afloat, gasping for air. The feminine sees everything but has surrendered the breath of life. The child self has already sunk into the murky swamp - a heavy, resistant environment, not meant for growth. Bubbles rise from below like fragments of a lost voice. Above the waterline, the air is clear, the day bright. Thin lines cross the sky like beams or invisible strings - reminders of a greater structure, a net of light that connects and constrains all at once.
“Immigration” is a portrait of survival, adaptation, and the quiet erosion of the self in unwelcoming waters.
