The life journey of jellyfish commences with the humble polyp, progressing through the ephemeral stage of the 'ephyra,' culminating in the grandeur of the adult 'medusa.' Remarkably, certain jellyfish possess the remarkable ability to rewind their biological clock, reverting to the polyp stage once more.
While working on this painting, I drew inspiration from a widely admired portrait of a jellyfish that greatly resonated with me. My aim was to accentuate the delicate structure of the jellyfish's organism, its low density in contrast to its aquatic habitat - it almost becomes one with the water, yet maintains a distinct structure, entirely separate from it.
